RSR Construction is the story of two generations of craftsmen: Nick Paun, who built houses his whole life, and his son Terry who grew up on the job sites at his dad’s side. Terry Paun learned the trade from his father, framing, foundations, finish work, long before RSR was ever a company name. Between the two of them, that’s more than 40 years of hands-on foundation and basement repair experience in Regina.

Terry's Story

“I didn’t get toys as a kid. Didn’t want them.

A hammer, yes. A drill, yes to that too. And getting a go on my dad’s John Deere 690 was Christmas morning, birthday, and Canada Day all wrapped into one.

My dad made sure I knew how to use every tool in his toolbox safely. He built houses his whole life, framing, foundations, finish work, the kind of guy who could look at a problem and just fix it.

I grew up on job sites…weekends, summers, after school. While other kids were playing hockey or soccer, I was learning how to measure twice, cut once, and why you don’t take shortcuts when it matters. I didn’t mind. It felt normal.

When I got older, I spent years as a crane operator. Precision work, high stakes. You learn fast that small mistakes have big consequences, for you, for the crew, and for the schedule.

Eventually, I did what felt natural and went into construction and opened an underpinning company. It’s hard work, but we were good at it.

That’s when I started noticing something I couldn’t ignore. Every interior underpinning job, basement work, tight spaces, manual helical pile installation, it bothered me. We needed a full crew down there, guys fighting torque in six feet of clearance, one person anchoring the drive head so it didn’t spin and hurt someone. It was slow, exhausting, dangerous, and expensive. We were losing margin on every job.

I kept thinking there had to be a better way to do this.

I’m not an inventor, and I’m not a visionary. I’m just a guy who grew up fixing things and couldn’t let this one go. So I built a machine: the Monax Machine.

It came from everything I’d seen. Years on cranes taught me precision and safety matter more than speed. My dad taught me that if something’s broken, you don’t complain, you figure it out. And years running underpinning jobs taught me what crews needed: less risk, tighter access, fewer people exposed to the work.

The machine isn’t fancy. It’s practical. Portable, self-anchoring, and it fits through doorways. It does the work with one to two people instead of a full crew.
